I find it comedic that people think Bitcoin can be the currency of the future, yet those same people oppose increasing the block size from 1 MB to 20 MB. You can't have a currency of the future that only handles 7 transactions per second.

Why can the bitcoin network only process 3-7 transactions per second?

The Bitcoin Network can only process 3-7 transactions per second. However, a company such as Visa processes well over 1,000 transactions per second and claims to be able to do much more. Why is this? And are there any clear solutions to this problem?

Has anyone pointed out that the 7 transactions per second thing is a lie and using actual data on transaction size bitcoin can not actually scale to even half that number?

The average number of transactions per block right now is: 665 transactions
The average block size is 0.372731752748842mb.
That means the average transaction is 0.00056049887mb. Which means 1mb of transactions (the limit) is 1784 transactions
Assuming a 10 minute block (a whole other can of worms) that means there is 10*60 seconds.
1784/600 isn't 7. It's a 2.97.
Bitcoin at a technical level can not handle even 3 transactions per second.

I read somewhere that Bitcoin can only handle 7 transactions per second. This works out to 604,800 transactions per day.
